The Rules of Environmental protection: A research study in light of Quranic legal text and Sunnah of Holy Prophet

Universe is the great creation of Allah. Allah Almighty made man His caliph in universe. Human being is distinct part of this universe; So Universe and Human being are the elements of complementary to each other. Universe and its system are operating in an organized and integrated scientific manner. Nature creates compatible atmosphere for safety of human being.
Maintaining the environment with its natural protection is in accordance with Islamic teachings, and human being is responsible to safety of the environment. Environment protection is an important aspect of Islam. Muslims is vicegerent of Allah on earth so Muslims are responsible to care for the environment in pro-active manner. Different species, be it plants or animals have been created for a specific purpose.
The Holy Quran provides comprehensive and clear teachings for protection of the environment and human survival. Holy Quran emphases man to live an eco-friendly, moderate, balanced and without causing any destruction or harm to nature. Allah says, in Holy Quran: (Qur’an, 2:60) وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ مُفْسِدِيْنَ(Translation) “And do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.”
Allah said in another place: وَلَا تَبْغِ الْفَسَادَ فِي الْاَرْضِ ۭ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِيْنَ (Qur’an 28:77) “And do not desire corruption in the land. Indeed, God does not like corruptors.”
Holy prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) took practical steps to keep the environment green and to ensure the protection of the environment. The holy prophet spent his entire life in helping and caring for mankind and also other creation of Allah, an eco-friendly effort, to restore/preserving the peace of the universe, planting trees and protecting the environment. Holy prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him)says, If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (sadaqah) for him.”
One of the biggest and most serious problem facing the world today is global warming, freshwater scarcity, depletion of biodiversity, ozone depletion. In this article describes the important elements of the environment, land, water, and types of air pollution. The reasons for polluting the environment are explained in the light of the facts. This paper is an attempt to briefly present the rules for the protection of the environment have been stated in the light of the verses of the holy Quran and the Hadith/Sunnah of the Prophet(peace be upon him),and the protection of human survival is one of the main goals of islamic Shari’ah.
