Abstract

Money and the economy are among the most important pillars of life throughout the different ages. In the modern era, the economy has become the main pillar of people's lives and the sources and sovereignty of the state. Zakat plays a very important role in developing and strengthening the economy through its institutions. It also plays a distinctive role in reducing dependency, leading to the complete economic independence of the Islamic state.The research was divided into an introduction and three sections in order to show the role of Zakat and its institutions. The first and second sections include the definition of zakat, its characteristics and the purposes of its legislation. The third section includes the philosophy of Islam in money and the role of zakat institutions in achieving this philosophy. This philosophy includes supporting the economy and its independence and explains the work of the Palestinian Zakat Authority.The most important results included in the research: 1- The legality of investing zakat funds was consistent with the purposes of its economic legislation.2-The Palestinian Zakat Authorityplays a distinguished role in supporting the poor according to its available resources.
