Abstract

The encyclopedia of the Quran published by Brill,Brill, has been globally promoted. An orientalist, "Uri Robbin" has contributed to it by sharing a number of articles. One of those is about the Prophet of Islam. The views of Robbin presented in the above mentioned article have been taken into consideration and have been analyzed in the light of Muslim thoughts. The study shows that the orientalist has a lack of knowledge of not only the Quranic concept of the Prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), but also the major and basic books regarding the attributes of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH). The discussion about the names of prophet, the Makki era of Prophethood, the universality of the message of Islam and the miracles of the prophet of Islam indicate this. On several occasions, he has been found copying the ideas of previous orientalists, especially those ideas that have been responded to by Muslim scholars. It is inevitable for every researcher to be unbiased while presenting any academic master piece. Unfortunately, it has not been fulfilled by the author of "Muhammad,", which is included in the Encyclopedia of Islam.
