Abstract

British Government and the colonial power in the Indo Pak subcontinent
influenced all departments and spheres of life. Like other major channels and
forums of the government, colonial power also focused on education to license
and to strengthen their regime in the region. They established and introduced
a new narrative of Indian history. In this colonial narrative Indian campaigns
of Mahmud of Ghaznavi got the vital position. They interpreted the campaigns
according to their colonial needs so they committed distortion in narration of
historical facts. Colonial narrative affected a lot to the local population
through the promotion of the textual books written according to the new
narrative. Many Hindu and Muslim historians have written the history of the
region in the light of colonial narration. In this article colonial narrative of
the Indian history has been critically analyzed in the context of Indian
campaigns of Mahmud of Ghaznavi.
