Abstract

Islam addresses different kinds of issues arising from time to time. There has been detailed discussing on newly arising issues from Islamic perspective and solution to it has been offered in Islam. These issues range from economics to politics and from wealth to body. One such issue is the blood money or recompense for the loss of a life of a female. Discussion on this topic in fact involves two things; discussion on body and economics and the relation of the two. Body and physical condition has a prominent say when it comes to decide and fix the economic compensation of loss of life. So, the compensation of the loss of life is offered in the Islamic Sharia, falls in the field of economics as well as social studies. The more one is physically strong and responsible in the society the more the economic compensation will be paid in case there is a loss of life. Since man has to burden up more social, physical and economic responsibility, his blood money is double the amount of the blood money in case of a woman. This does not mean that man is superior to woman. It rather means that man has a more responsible role to play as compared to a woman. This papers offers a research analysis of the blood money of a female; a hot topic of the day in media like print and electronic media, discussions and in different talks shows across the world and an issue on which many objections has been raised and labeled against Islam. Base on this issue Islam has been labeled as a cruel and unjust religion by the non-Muslims and orientalists. Even many a so-called Islamic scholars has also been part of this misleading propaganda and it has been demonstrated as if this issue needs rethinking. This is despite the fact that there is unanimity on the issue among all the Muslims including the four schools of thought of Islam. This paper covers all those evidences along with intellectual points.
