The Prophet Muhammad had eleven wives, of whom two passed away during his lifetime: Khadijah and Zainab bint Khuzaymah. Nine of his wives survived him. There are differing accounts regarding his children, but the most credible and authentic opinion is that he had three sons and four daughters. The sons were Qasim, Abdullah who was also called Tayyib and Tahir and Ibrahim. The daughters were Zainab, Ruqayyah, Umm Kulthum, and Fatimah. There is no disagreement about the daughters; unanimously, they were four. The Prophet Muhammad had four slave girls, two of whom are well-known. His clothing was very simple and ordinary, reflecting a life of poverty and asceticism. His usual attire consisted of a loincloth, a sheet, a shirt, a robe, and a blanket with patches. He favored green clothing, but his garments were generally white.
